SSH Telnet
What precisely is SSH? How do you handle a server via SSH?
Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol that is used to execute commands on a remote server or to exchange data between a website hosting server and a client. Due to the fact that the information exchanged by the two sides is protected, a 3rd party simply cannot intercept it, which makes SSH a favorite means of controlling a website hosting account. The commands which can be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared hosting server, for example, the alternatives are limited because you will not have root access to the hosting server, so you can simply create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, import and export databases, etc. These are all actions which are executed in the shared hosting account and don't require a higher level of access. Through a virtual or a dedicated server, you'll be able to set up server-side software or to restart the server or just a particular service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, but if you don't use a UNIX-like Operating System, there are tons of apps for other OSs, you can employ to connect to the remote server as well.

SSH Telnet in Shared Hosting
SSH access is offered with all
shared hosting services that we offer. With some of them, it's offered as standard, while with others it is an optional upgrade you can add with several clicks from your web hosting Control Panel. You can obtain SSH access from the section dedicated to it where you shall also find the details which you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You could pick the password which you will use and, if needed, you will be able to change it with a few mouse clicks from the same place. All commands which can be used with our shared plans are listed inside a help article along with relevant instances. If the SSH access feature is permitted for your account, you will also be able to upload files through your preferred FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
SSH access is available as standard with some of our
semi-dedicated server solutions, while with others you could include it from the hosting Control Panel if needed - even just for the current month. In either case, you'll be able to activate and de-activate the feature with one click via the SSH section of the Control Panel. In the same location, you will see the server name, the port number and the username needed to connect to our platform. You will also find a box in which you could type the password that you'd like to use, since it doesn't need to be the same as the one you use to log into the CP. For better protection, you may also change it as often as you require. A full list of the commands that can be executed within a semi-dedicated account is available in our Knowledge Base, together with the syntax and a few examples. An extra feature after SSH access is allowed will be the ability to connect to your hosting space via SFTP using any FTP client that supports such connections.

SSH Telnet in VPS Web Hosting
When you get a new
virtual private server from our company, it'll come with full root access and you shall be able to connect to the server and to control everything via an SSH console. The function is included by default with all packages, so you won't need to allow or upgrade anything. Your hosting server shall be set up right after you purchase it and as soon as you receive the Welcome e mail with the login details, you can connect via the server’s main IP address and start working. As the VPS is a software emulation of a dedicated server and is separated from the other accounts on the physical machine, there will be no restrictions in terms of the commands which you can use. You'll have full root access, so that you may install and run any app that can work on a Linux web server, manage files, folders and databases or start/stop/reboot your entire machine or any software operating on it.
